Belated Bump-date


Happy belated Bump-date!! I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday so I'm doing it today. 

FINALLY exceeded my pre-pregnancy weight. When I started my journey I had just lost 6 lbs from my first week in a challenge making my pre-pregnancy weight 146.

The last 7 days have been interesting. My hips have been much more achy and the frequency in which I get hungry is increasing. Uh, oh. haha

But, I'm not worried. Keeping the pantry stocked with my favorite nuts and frig full of my favorite veggies. Not increasing carb in-take due to my insulin-resistance brought on by my PCOS. Oh yeah, and one guilty pleasure....Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. 

GOTTA be Hidden Valley. lol And not the light stuff.

As for the workout program. I'm still doing Insanity Max 30 and have stopped any jumping. My baby is sitting low so its not comfortable without a jogging belt. ...maybe I'll get one.

There's only few more days of Month-1 of the program. I'm struggling to decide whether to move on to Month-2 (a lil more difficult), repeat Month-1, or take it down a bunch to PiYo. SO TOUGH!!! I guess we'll see Monday what I decide, but ultimately it will be determined by my hips. They're getting really achy.

That and I want to prove my doctor wrong. He doesn't think I can keep it up past 28 weeks. We'll see about that! Challenge ACCEPTED! haha

She is the #1 coach in the entire company and has been working for the company for 8 years. The second is Alyssa Showmaker. She has been one of the fastest rising Beachbody coach by advancing from coach to #8 coach in the entire company in a matter of two year. WOW! My hero!!

Help Me Help You!


As a Beachbody Coach and personal trainer, I had to laugh the first time I saw this graphic flowing around Pinterest.

It is so in your face and blunt. Calls you out. No dancing around the excuses.

There are many styles when it comes to being a coach. Some coaches are strong, and blunt like this picture. Others are soft but still are strong and encouraging....that's totally me.

This made me think of how people in a leadership role manage others, whether in fitness or in business, sometimes they feel the strongest more intimidating approach is the best way to get people to work harder. I'm sorry but that's not necessarily the case.

There are all sorts of personalities out there that have different things they've experienced in their lives. Some respond to positive reinforcement while others thrive to overcome the negative. 

I personally like to be coached with a more soft yet strong approach so that is the way I am towards. 

That being said, we coaches aren't mind readers. If you are investing your time and hard earned money into personal training or fitness groups make sure to talk to your trainer/coach and tell them how you are best motivated.

Working Out Sucks But...

I came across this today and I couldn't help but laugh. hahaha I can think of at least one other word that I use instead of muffing top. Can you?

F.U.P.P.A. Fat Upper Post-Pregnancy Area....yeah "Post-Pregnancy" isn't the word I normally say but this is a family blog here. Gotta keep it clean. ha!

Anyway, I'm proud of my F.U.P.P.A. Men don't really have it and after you have a kid that thing is OUT OF CONTROL!!!

You don't have to have had a child to have one. After watching as many kids as I have over the years I'm seriously starting to think it forms because we tied our diapers too tight as infants and taught the fat to move upward. Then as we get older is slowly sinks down like a bag of flour. UGH! But who really knows.

Anyway, as proud as I am of my F.U.P.P.A. but I tell you what? I'm gonna be proud as pie when that thing is GONE!!

Day 3: Installing a Blogger Template

Welcome back to Day 3 of the 7-Day Blogger Quick Start. Today I have a video tutorial to show you how to install the template from Blogger Template shop on Etsy that I referred you to in the last day.

As you saw from the video above I came across a few hiccups. I realized after the fact that because I had more than one author assigned to this blog, the Blogger profile picture was removed and replaced with links to both Blogger profiles. Once I removed the second profile, my picture popped up as it should have in the first place. 

The second hiccup that came up was from the different shades of white between the backdrop of the blog and the white of background of the logo. Here is a video on how to remove the background of the logo so that it will be transparent and take on whatever color I change the blog background to.

Next up for tomorrow we will cover Tabs and Content.

Book Review: The Healthy Me Team: A Battle of Vitamin and Mineral Against Artificial Colors and White Sugar by Netta Gerad


One of my biggest goals with sticking to my exercise while pregnant is being an example to my 3 year old. Everyday she tells me "exercise Mommy." haha

She is my little cheerleader during my exercises as well. If I'm not jumping with the instructors on the screen she's right there yelling at me "Jump, Mommy, jump!"

haha What a sweet heart, right? I'm so proud of her. She even joins in during the warm-ups and does her exercise too.

But what is missing in my healthy lifestyle teaching for her is her reading. I've been looking for a good book to read to her that teaches lessons of eating healthy. 

So, when I presented the opportunity to read and review The Healthy Me Team by Netta Gerad I was super excited!!

My thoughts:

This book is cute. I love the colorful illustrations and so did Eva. They helped keep her engaged in the story. Being only 3 this was a little long for her. She doesn't sit still for long stories yet. ...We're getting there.

Aside from being a little long, the story line was good but still a little complicated for younger children. The description claims it is for children 2-8 years old. I would say its more of the upper ages. However, my 3 year old did like it. 

As with a lot of Golden Books and kid's movies made into book, I think it is one that children can grow into. We have many long books that require me to describe the story based on the pictures and in time add in more of the actual literature. I think this will be one of them.

That being said, I'm still really glad I have it. It creates the opportunity to start teaching her about good food versus others that should be eaten in moderation or not at all.

7-day Blogger Quick Start - Day 1

Day 1, Part I

Welcome to Day1! Yippie, time to start learning about blogging. Today we start with two fundamental elements….the W’s (Who, What, When, Where, Why) of Blogging as well as the Which platform question.

You probably haven’t thought about the W questions since grade school. I know I haven’t. So when I first start researching about blogging I was a little surprised to see it come up. I didn’t take the time to really go through these and it ended up hurting me later. SO, I urge you to get out your pen and paper. Find a quiet spot away from the kids. And really put some thought into these.


WHY What are you starting a blog?

People start blogs of all kinds of reasons. The majority of us in this group are here to start a blog for our Beachbody business. If that is you, it will probably be a lifestyle/fitness blog. Am I right? 

WHO is your audience?

From what I've read many of the experts recommend creating a profile for your ideal reader and write for that person. My idea reader is someone like me. Early 30, Female, Starting or expanding her family, struggled with weight her whole life, may have emotional baggage keeping her pounds on and additional medical hurdles like PCOS.

Profile characteristics:
  • gender?
  • age?
  • location?
  • education level?
  • socioeconomic status?
  • etc.

WHERE will people find you?

This is your blog title. How will people find you? Will you use your name? Will you use your Facebook business (aka "like") page?

The experts say not to think too narrow. My blog is Fit Familia. With Spanish being so common and also similar to other languages like Italian and Portuguese, I don't zero in on any one niche of people. Also it is centered around fitness and family. Those are two pretty huge topics and when family is involved that can really cover anything. For instance, I just wrote a post about an outfit I would wear out on a Valentine's dinner date with my hubs. The same afternoon I published it I had at least 9 women gushing over my fashion pick. 

If you are wanting you use your name you can always add in a tagline to explain you niche.

WHAT kind of posts will you have?

Again, if your goal is a blog to promote your Beachbody business, then your posts might be like mine. I focus on inspirational messages, recipes, shoutouts about upcoming challenges and I plan to add in fitness fashion in the next coming weeks with a little sprinkle of family here and there. I want my readers to feel like they know ME. I want them to think to themselves, "hey, if I met this girl in person I bet we would be friends." Because in the end, I want to be there friend and I want to help them achieve not only their fitness goals but also transform to a healthier lifestyle.

WHEN will you achieve success?

This is going to not only be different for everyone, but will change for all of you over time. In the beginning your first success marker may be getting regular comments on your articles or seeing an increase in the number of times your article was shared on social media.

You may feel that you have achieved succeed when you get your first challenger from a Wufoo application you had on your blog.

Again, others might feel they have reached success when you start receiving residual income from the affiliates and sponsored posts. 

There are many markers of success. You might even call these goals. We Beachbody coaches sure do love setting goals. So, write them down. All of them. Then we can create monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for your blog.

Day 1, Part II

What Platform to use?

There are a lot of articles out there talking about Blogger vs Wordpress. I'm not going to regurgitate what they've already said, so check out these two articles that I found pretty good and unbiased. You have to consider the source and you personal needs with you read comparisons.

One of these sites Elegant Themes Blog is ultimately trying to sell Wordpress themes and plugins. Then the other, WPBeginners, is also selling things and offering tutorials for Wordpress owners.

That being said, I really like the information  they gave and will address a few of their negatives blew.

The Ownership Issue

Yeah Google owns it and I really like all the benefits that means. I started my Beachbody business with a need of income as a defining my persistance. I want something FREE and with it integrated with my business gmail and Google Drive I couldn't be happier.

Threat of shutting it down? Well, if I were doing something illegal or sketchy then that might be a concern. I'm not worried about that at all.

The Control Issue

Um, if Melanie Mitro can grow over 8 years as a Beachbody Coach to the point she's earning 1 million dollars a year and she uses Blogger, then I don't see any reason why it would hold me back.

Yeah, if I was doing something super techy or in music I can see that this would be limiting. But, I don't see any reason why Blogger isn't a good choice. I personally like the limited capability. You know why?? Because I don't need all the bells and whistles that will ultimately make me overwhelmed.

The Appearance Issue

Um, yeah again. Poor argument here. The trend in blogging right now is Clean and Minimalist. The old days of filling every square inch of your blog with banners and buttons is long gone. People don't want to be overwhelming with moving parts and overabundance of images.

The Portability Issue

Again, Melanie Mitro hasn't gone anywhere. I don't see any reason why I would .

The Security Issue

Nanny nanny boo boo! Blogger win this one. Case closed.

Haha Seriously, I'm not spending MORE money only to have to secure it myself. I'm a mom, not an IT Specialist. Nor am I married to one.

The Support Issue

This the 21st Century. It's the Youtube/DIY Generation. I don't need to call up Blogger and sit on hold. If I need help with something I'll go to the people that can really help...IT vloggers  (video bloggers) on Youtube to teach me how to fix it. 

I'm not going to be doing anything that crazy so again, I'm not concerned.  

The Future Issue

Yes, Google has dropped a number of unsuccessful features over the years. With Blogger constantly going head-to-head against WordPress being the top blogging platform I'm not worried they will get rid of it.

Some articles complain about it not getting updated in forever. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's simplicity is its selling feature...that and its free.

Ok. So, we've covered a LOT here. Don't stress. If you are new to blogging and not even sure if this is a good thing to bring into your already busy Beachbody schedule don't press. This is one of the simplest click-and-start options out there. Again, if Melanie Mitro is successful and using it, why can't you??

Monday Mantra


Monday Mantra!!! 

It's the beginning of the week and boy is it going to be a doozy for the Coastal North East. I'm here in Philly and they are calling for 8-12" over the next few days. It's definitely going to ruin a lot of people's schedules this week. 

The real test is will you be able to keep up with your exercise routine???

Well, if you belong to a gym chances are that's going to be difficult. Between it staying open and you getting there safely you are certainly going to be having some difficulty.

BUT...if you are one of my challengers you DON'T have those EXCUSES....and you don't want them!

As long as you have power you can do you workout. Yay! Right?!

No missed days. No missed opportunities to grow. No setbacks in your improvement. WAHOO!!! 

Sounds good, huh?? Well that could be you too.

The Perfect Valentine's Day Dress

Don't Be Ashamed of Your Story...


When I first started coaching not everyone around me was very supportive of it. Not being fit, not being thin, and sharing my before pictures of online was scary for them.

What will family think? What will our friends? What will our coworkers think? Even worse...what will they say??

We all like to think that when we grow up and get out of high school all those negative people will have grown up and everyone will be supportive and non-judgmental towards each other. WRONG!

Mean Girls and Mean Guys, they're still out there. They just got older. It seems as we get older people get MORE judgmental and negative. Tis a shame.

But what I've learned is the MOST important thing to do is not focus on those negative nancy's but instead...

FOCUS on those you are going to inspire. 

FOCUS on the family, perhaps even your spouse, that will not only start to believe you but support you......and join you!!

FOCUS on the friends who you may have lost touch with but whom are getting a little bit of sunshine from your inspiring posts they read.

FOCUS on the moms out there that will decide to start putting themselves first for once. Leading by example to their families.

FOCUS on yourself and how everyday you continue on, you are empowering your mind and your body.

Thursday: I'm Hanging on for Dear Life!

It's THURSDAY! Wahoo! The weekend is SO close I can almost taste it! haha

So, how has your week been so far? Just another typical daily grind? Routinely uneventful? Yeah, I know the feeling.

As a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM)...or as I prefer to put it WORK-at-home- mom because all we do at home is some kind of work... most days are pretty uneventful.

Day in and day out, the daily routine is pretty much the same. Having more kids in the house than spaces for car seats in the car makes you a prisoner in your own home.

The winter weather only makes it worse because you can't leave the house and escape to the backyard like you can during the summer. Ah, I miss you.

So, what's a girl to do?? What do YOU do?

Well, wallowing in the negatives is out. With little ones around, letting yourself get down will only make your day and theirs a heck of a lot worse! SO, here are a few things I do when I start to feel that grey cloud forming over my head.

Compare Myself to Others

Yeah, I said it. I'm sure you're scratching your head right now. I normally don't suggest this but it depends on the approach you take. I DO recommend looking at others around you that also have it hard right now and I DO  recommend focusing on the fact that they may have it worse.

Yes, I'm stuck in my house all day BUT I do love my home and am very blessed to live in it. Others may not have what I have and I have to thank God for this, and my super hard working husband of course.

Yes, I'm surrounded by kids all day long and don't speak to another adult in person until their parents come to pick them up BUT I do get to work from home and make my own schedule. There are SO many people out there that HATE their jobs and would LOVE to work from home. Again....gotta thank God and my husband for this opportunity.

You may be thinking to yourself one of two things...What is personal development?...or I thought only business people do that, I don't need that crap.

The truth is anyone can work on personal development and when it comes to books there are hundreds out there for all sorts of development. Here are a few that I'm reading or listening to on Audible right now.

1. The List: Shout Out Your Dream 
by Yuval Abramovitz

I was originally drawn to this book by the title. You see I'm a big list-maker. I love writing a daily to-do list with my favorite purple EnergGel pen by Pentel and love the instant gratification of checking things off my list. I know its a little silly and mundane but I love it. haha Sometimes its the simple things in life that give you the greatest pleasures. But after I started getting into it I really enjoyed hearing about his journey and all the lessons he learned along the way.

 2. #Girlboss 
by Sophia Amorusa

The is a great first book to read for any woman that is looking or inspiration and motivation to taking her idea and turning it into a business. I went to college but I didn't go to business school. In hind sight, minoring in business would've been hugely helpful.

That being said, Sophia proves that traditional education is NOT the determining factor to success. At one point renting a closet in a friend's home to live out of, she turned her fashion business from this little shop on Ebay to a $100+ million dollar online fashion retailer.

Wow! Talk about girl power?! How can you NOT be inspired and motivated by that???

Eat Something

Now I bet you're REALLY scratching your head. Did I just say eat for comfort? Yes....and no. 

What you eat dramatically effects yours mood. If you're eating a lot of processed stuff you are sure to find yourself feeling down in the dumps on many of an occasion. I swear its your body putting you in a time out for all the junk you just sent down the shoot.

To help get yourself out of mental funk don't reach for the the stuff that takes almost doesn't need and expiration date, instead reach for the good 'ole God grown, healthy, natural, clean stuff. The more colorful the fruit or vegetable, the more you're likely to start feeling better. 

Another great comfort food option is Shakeology. It's a nutrient dense meal replacement by the guys at Beachbody. I started drinking it when I did my first challenge and fell in love with it instantly. I've been drinking protein shakes since I was in my twenties and later in my 30s started the whole green smoothie thing. Once I had my daughter, that quickly fell to the way side. Having PCOS my mood swings can be pretty BAD. Most days its like I'm pregnant but know that bitchy, irritable mood swing thing. Oh yeah. Not fun.

Now if I go a few days without it and notice my patience start to waiver, I know I've gone too long within out super healthy smoothie fix. So, now I drink it daily.

Hump Day, Bump Day: Week 22


Happy HUMP DAY!!!! For me that means its also Bump Day! haha 

Here's my weekly update on how the pregnancy is going. I'm still sticking to my Insanity Max 30 program with just a few more modifier moves added in since the bump is getting bigger. 

How big? Check out the side-by-side comparison of pregnancy #1 and this one (#2). Wow, huh??

Everyone tells you that you'll show sooner or even sit lower because your tendons are all stretched out from the first pregnancy but Good-NESS! lol 

Thanks to my daily 30-minute workouts I've stayed under my previous pregnancy's weight. You may think that's silly of me to worry about but my last pregnancy I gained 60 POUNDS. 

That was a lot of weight for me and really put me mentally in a bad place. Having PCOS I was SO grateful that I was able to get pregnant but my insecurities about my weight left me depressed and feeling hopeless. 

It took me nearly 3 years to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and then BOOM I got pregnant again. 

So, my approach is a little different this time. I ate clean the first time, but didn't workout. 

Adding that one variable sure has made a difference. We'll see how long it can last and how it ultimately affects my pregnancy.

My doctor's ok with it and I feel great. So that's my biggest motivator for keeping it up.

  • 3-4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 4-6 Tablespoons Prepared Pesto
  • 1-2 Roma Tomatoes
  • 1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese, grated


  1. Trim the chicken and lay them in a glass baking dish in a single layer.
  2. Spread 1-2 tablespoons of the pesto on top of each chicken breast.
  3. Cut the roma tomatoes into slices approx 1/2" thick and lay 2 slices on top of each chicken breast.
  4. Sprinkle the cheese over the top of the chicken breasts.
  5. Bake at 400?F for 30-40 minutes or until the chicken is done and the juices run clear.
  6. Serve over a bed of rice or a plate of pasta.
